Washoe School Board Member Accused Of Misconduct With Teenager

washoeschools.net

A Washoe County School Board Trustee has resigned amid allegations of misconduct involving a high school student.

In a statement, Board President Angela Taylor said that Nick Smith resigned after the school district was informed about the alleged misconduct.

Taylor said the alleged misconduct did not involve Smith's role as a trustee and happened at Smith's private work place, not on district property.

Taylor added that the district took immediate steps to keep Smith away from the student and the high school.

Smith was elected in 2014 and has previously worked in the restaurant industry. His district includes Lemmon Valley, Spanish Springs, and Cold Springs
