Prince in Reno: A Remembrance

People around the globe are mourning the death of legendary artist Prince. Our reporter Anh Gray spoke to a fan who fondly recalls seeing Prince perform live in Reno.

Twelve years ago Prince kicked off the world tour for his Musicology album at the Lawlor Events Center at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Gina Reed is a Reno resident and she's been to many of Prince’s live concerts, but her favorite was the one at Lawlor.

“It was amazing, it was a very intimate venue and he really showcased his older music as well as his more current music, and if I recall from covers that he did," Reed reminisces, "a lot of stuff stripped down, so a lot of him playing instruments, which is what he does so, so well and singing of course too.”

The event drew in about 12,000 concert goers. And Prince opened with the title track Musicology

Prince died today at the age of 57-years-old at his home in Minnesota. NPR reportsthat his publicist says there are no details as to the cause of death at this time.
