Nevada's top political commentator Jon Ralston is parting ways with the state's local PBS affiliates. Reno Public Radio's Julia Ritchey reports.
In a statement, the heads of Reno's KNBP and Vegas PBS said Ralston's show had required considerable financial investment and no longer had sufficient funds to continue production.
The hour-long Ralston Live debuted in March of last year and featured interviews with Nevada's top legislators and newsmakers, as well as blunt commentary from the veteran political reporter.
KNPB and Vegas PBS said the show had proven to be substantive but also sometimes "provocative and controversial."
Ralston says he's been working on a new opportunity, but did not disclose details..
Effective immediately, KNPB will fill the slot with "Tavis Smiley" at 5:30 p.m. and midnight.
