Candidate filing got underway Monday morning in Nevada, including the City of Reno. Our News Director Michelle Billman reports.
Reno City Clerk Ashley Turney spent Monday morning walking several candidates through their paperwork.
"We have been very busy this morning. We've had back-to-back appointments," Turney said. "We have already had six or eight candidates this morning in the first hour."
There are four open seats on council this time around, and incumbents NeomaJardon and David Bobzien were first in line to file. Bobzien was actually appointed to the council's at-large seat mid-term when Hillary Schieve became mayor. He was serving on the state assembly before transitioning to his more local position on council.
"Finding solutions to fund quality-of-life initiatives is very important," he said, "and a big solution that I'm very proud of is that we finally secured the City of Reno license plate, providing much needed support for our parks and recreation."
So far, Bobzien is the only candidate to file for Reno's at-large seat, but candidates have until March 18 to sign up.
