Program Director

KUNR 88.7 FM / Reno Public Radio, Reno, NV

At KUNR, we’re looking for someone with hustle and an entrepreneurial mindset. We’re a small shop, so we need a team player as well. The ideal candidate must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution and three years of radio or broadcasting experience with some programming experience, a conversational public radio voice, and work samples reflecting excellent broadcast writing, editing, and production skills.

Business News Intern (for Spring 2016)

Reno Public Radio (KUNR 88.7 FM) is looking for a business news intern to explore how economic development is shaping Northern Nevada. With Tesla on its way and a growing number of startups calling Reno home, this beat will keep you busy and fulfilled. This is a paid position open to students in the Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno. This intern must work 10 hours each week and should have access to a car for covering local events.

Desired Skills: Be familiar with the style and mission of NPR and KUNR programming. Be a strong writer with some broadcast experience in radio or TV. Be proficient with grammatical rules and AP style. Be hungry for news content and aware of issues and stories important in Reno. Be familiar with audio editing software (like Adobe Audition) and broadcast/digital recording equipment.

Responsibilities: Gather sound at press events and conduct phone interviews for daily stories. Post news content on our website and social media. Pitch and report original news stories.
