Sales Representative

Reno Public Radio (KUNR-FM) in Reno, NV is seeking an experienced Radio Sales Representative (Sales Rep) with a background in public media.

The Sales Rep for KUNR at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is responsible for generating advertising sales to increase and grow KUNR’s sales numbers in support of the station. Through current and new client contact, the Sales Rep will be expected to meet annual sales goals. The Sales Rep reports to the Underwriting Sales Manager.

Compensation will be a generous base salary with commission paid on sales above annual minimum goals. The University offers a benefits package including health insurance, generous sick and annual leave, 14.5% matched retirement contributions and tuition assistance.

Digital Services Assistant:

Reno Public Radio (KUNR 88.7 FM) is looking for a Digital Services Assistant to produce social media content, including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram posts that are engaging and creative. This position would also produce web content, including news story posts and corresponding items like photographs, videos, and infographics. The KUNR Digital Services Assistant will also work with the Digital Services Coordinator to plan and execute digital strategies that include website updates, analytics analysis, and some assistance with digital event planning.

This position will require 15 to 20 hours per week depending on applicant availability. Applicants need access to a car for traveling to various events.

KUNR is a robust, but small, news organization, we provide a lot of hands-on training, mentoring, and the opportunity to make a real difference in our local coverage.

Desired Skills:

• Be familiar with the style and mission of NPR and KUNR programming.

• Be a strong writer with some media experience.

• Have some proficiency with all of these skills: photography, videography, and/or graphic design. 

• Be proficient with grammatical rules and AP style.

• Be able to learn quickly and meet tight deadlines.

• Be familiar with the adobe creative suite including, but not limited to: Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or Audition. 

• Be familiar with Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter 

• Familiarity with or ability to learn how to post to KUNR’s Core Publisher website

• Be able to work in a newsroom environment and collaborate with KUNR reporters

Responsibilities:

• Post news and station content on our website and social media.

• Create original content for social media and generate interest in our organization through those channels.

• Create original web content that can stand alone or that coincides with news stories (like a photo gallery or video for a particular story).

• Execute tasks assigned by Digital Services Coordinator or News Director

• Handle any other duties that come up as needed.

Marketing Intern or Student Worker:  

Reno Public Radio (KUNR 88.7 FM) is looking for an intern to produce social media content, including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram posts, execute marketing assignments, and work to grow KUNR’s listener base. This intern would also help produce fund drive content, including e-blasts, on-air promotions, and direct mail campaigns. The KUNR Marketing Intern will also work with the Membership and Digital Services Coordinator to plan and execute digital marketing strategies that include website updates, analytics analysis, SEO techniques and website optimization, and some assistance with branding.

Each internship will take place during the spring, summer, or fall, and hours will range from 10 to 15 per week depending on applicant availability. Applicants need access to a car for traveling to various events.

• Execute tasks assigned by Digital Services Coordinator 

• Help to optimize KUNR’s website for search engines

• Uphold KUNR’s best practices for social media and the web

• Handle any other duties and marketing assignments that come up as needed.
