One Student Injured In Hug High School Shooting

Washoe County Superintendent Traci Davis made an official statement, saying she supports the efforts of police officers.

“Had it not been for their quick actions and professionalism, I truly believe the outcome could have been much worse for our students,” she said.

Washoe County School District Police Chief Jason Trevino also made a statement this morning, saying that earlier videos that surfaced on social media do not provide proper context.

Hundreds Expected At Black Lives Matter Rally In Reno

Supporters of the nationwide Black Lives Matter movement are preparing a large march at the Reno Arch on Friday night. More than 550 people have RSVP'd on Facebook.

The protest is being organized by two high school students with some assistance by local groups like the Progressive Leadership Alliance of Northern Nevada. 

Reno Police Chief Jason Soto says they will provide 30 to 50 additional officers to work the march.

Crime Is Up In Reno

Many types of violent crimes and property crimes are increasing in Reno. That's according to an annual report released by the Reno Police Department this week. Our contributor Bob Conrad of ThisisReno has the story.

From 2013 to 2015, the number of robberies and assaults increased, and reported rapes nearly doubled. There were 70 rapes were reported in 2013 and 136 were documented last year. During that time, the homicide rate has remained steady.
