The City of Reno has released two investigation reports on misconduct allegations against former City Manager Andrew Clinger, which were made by three female employees. The franchise agreement between the City of Reno and Waste Management continues to generate heated debate. Our reporter Bob Conrad of ThisisReno has the latest.

According to a financial audit conducted by an outside firm, the company is in compliance with its agreement with the city.

But last week’s discussion quickly turned sour over a litany of issues about how that agreement has been executed since it was adopted in 2012.

The City of Reno has removed 68 benches from downtown using money from its blight fund. Officials say the project is in response to complaints of panhandling.

Our reporter Bob Conrad has been covering this story for ThisisReno and says the reaction he's received from local advocates for the homeless has been overwhelmingly negative. It's also created some real questions.

Reno Manager Andrew Clinger will finish his time at city hall early next month. While an investigation into allegations of misconduct continues, city council has voted to approve a separation agreement with Clinger. It provides him with about $230,000, mostly in severance.

“I think this is giving him a special treatment that’s above and beyond what is specified in the contract we have for him, and I cannot support the motion,” said councilwoman Jenny Brekhus, who voted against the agreement.

Councilwoman Naomi Duerr voted “yes.”

The Reno City Council has four of its six seats up for election this year, but only two of them have challengers to the incumbents. Reno Public Radio’s Noah Glick looks into the race for the at-large position.

David Bobzien was serving as a Nevada assemblyman when he was appointed to the Reno City Council in 2014, after then Councilwoman Hillary Schieve was elected mayor.

Bobzien says it was perfect timing.
