Air Date: 08/30/12 Most of us aren't too effective at how we talk with our spouse about why we do the things that we do. This week Dr. Jankovich suggests we stop asking why. Sometimes we say "why are you doing that" when we really mean, "that's stupid, stop doing that." What you are really saying is don't do that, and the person not only doesn't explain what they're doing they go right onto the defense. Then you think they're overreacting to a perfectly simple and innocent question. Sometimes, you truly want to understand your party's motives and feelings, but if you begin with why you may push them right onto the defense. And what we know about the why behind our behavior differs between men and women. This week Dr. Jankovich suggests eliminating why from the tool box and coming out more directly with how you feel about a situation on this week's edition of Relationships. Dr. Rebecca Jankovich airs Thursday mornings on 88.7 FM, KUNR, and can be reached at 775-322-1839.
