University's engineering program growing, leading — and improving earthquake safety

On KUNR'sBeyond the Headlines, guests are University of Nevada, Reno Provost Kevin Carman and his guest, Dr. David Sanders, professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. They visited with David Stipech about the continuing growth and successes of the engineering program that have positioned the University of Nevada, Reno as a high-profile, respected leader in this field across the nation. 

Recent successes include the opening of the new Earthquake Engineering Laboratory and the national championship Concrete Canoe team.

Dr. David Sanders has been with the University since 1990. He has been named six times as College of Engineering Senior Scholar Mentor and Faculty Appreciation Award five times. He has more than 240 research publication credits and has served as principal or co-principal investigator for more than $12 million in research projects. In May, Dr. Sanders was awarded the distinction of being a Foundation Professor at the University.
