The Reno-Sparks NAACP is hosting a Justice for Trayvon vigil Saturday morning in front of the federal building in Reno. Jeff Blanck is president of the Reno-Sparks NAACP and was attending the organization's national convention in Florida when he heard the non-guilty verdict for the George Zimmerman trial. He says Saturday's event is in response to what he calls an unjust verdict as well as an opportunity for his chapter to address local and state issues. "You know, we don't have a large black community, yet, well the incarceration rate here in Nevada, there's a great disparity that there's more black men in prison than there are percentage-wise in the population. And, what we call institutional racist that causes this, we need to go about bringing that to an end. And everyone agrees: education, and the earlier, the better." The Reno rally is part of a larger campaign by the Reverend Al Sharpton's National Action Network to host 100 such events in cities across the country Saturday.
