As of midnight on Saturday, Nevada became the 5th state in the nation to allow the sale of cannabis for recreational use.

Patrons began lining up outside the Blüm Marijuana Dispensary in downtown Reno around 2 p.m. Friday to be among the first to buy recreational cannabis in Nevada.

44 dispensaries in the state have been licensed to sell up to one ounce of recreational pot to individuals 21 and older with a legal I.D.

Alex Krickman of Reno bought several products during the midnight rush.

“I’m going to go home and sleep because it’s coming up on one o’clock in the morning and then I’m going to try my new products. Maybe take a little sample tonight. We’ll see how that goes.”

State officials believe the sale of recreational pot will generate about $60 million in tax revenue over the next two years, with tourists making up the bulk of those sales.
