With more casinos popping up across the country, Reno properties are chasing diverse types of non-gaming revenue. Our contributor Kaleb Roedel of the Northern Nevada Business Weekly has the story.
While hotel rooms, restaurants and shows make up a large portion of non-gaming revenue for local casinos, a growing slice of that business is hosting special events and conventions.
Right now, Eldorado Resorts is currently remodeling all of its convention space at its three Reno properties. Across town at the Peppermill Reno, the property houses the largest convention space in Northern Nevada: its 62,000-square-foot Tuscany Ballroom.
There was a time when gamblers primarily hit three cities: Reno, Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Today, 23 states are dotted with commercial casinos.
