A tribute video for the slain police officers in Dallas has gone viral. Our News Director Michelle Billman reports that it features a poem performed by a member of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Let's take a listen.

Harry Fagel is a 23-year veteran of the force. This video was posted on Facebook by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department after the shooting in Dallas that left five officers dead earlier this month. It's been viewed almost a quarter of a million times and shared by more than 5,000 people.

Fagel, who spoke to our media partner KNPR in Las Vegas, says that before the sniper opened fire, the Black Lives Matter event in Dallas had been calm and there was a strong rapport between the citizens there and the officers protecting them.

"That makes it all the more tragic because it was a very peaceful protest. The police and the public were definitely working together so that people could get their message out."

Fagel began writing more than two decades ago and says it offers him catharsis to deal with an intense line of work.
