Because of community concerns involving the cost of some services at Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital, Elko County Commissioners are asking hospital officials to re-evaluate their pricing.

According to one proponent for change, Commissioner Rex Steninger, prices at NNRH are so high, Elko’s mines are paying their employees to go out of town for their medical care.
He says the commissioners are reaching out to persuade the hospital to make its prices more competitive with other state facilities.
Commissioner Delmo Andreozzi is the community liaison to the hospital. He’s helping draft a letter to LifePoint Health, NNRH’s parent company.
“We feel like there should be a little bit more transparency in their pricing and... just making sure we’re getting a fair deal.”
Andreozzi says not addressing this could be harmful to the hospital infrastructure and the local economy in the future.
In a statement released by NNRH, officials say they, "appreciate the Elko County Health Commission's dedication" and "look forward to an ongoing discussion" about their healthcare-providing role.
