The Mountain West basketball tournament is underway in Las Vegas, and the winning team will get a guaranteed place in the NCAA Tournament, which starts next week. But can the Wolf Pack men's team make it that far?
The team has had 18 wins so far this season, doubling its number of victories from last season. The Pack has also doubled its Mountain West Conference wins from 5 to 10.
Reno Public Radio's Noah Glick checked in with some local fans for their thoughts on whether Nevada has improved enough to make it to the NCAA tournament.
Stephen Penrose: “I think they’re good. If they got a will, they got a way. I think they could do it. They’re as good a team as any.”
Jeremy Carr: “Oh, absolutely no. It’s going to be San Diego State. UNR might win one game in the Mountain West tournament but then they’re going to get beat.”
Whitney Kell: “I hope they win and they make the big dance. What do I think the chances are, the odds are statistically? Are we betting here? Because I can throw down.”
The Wolf Pack is currently fifth in the conference.
