A 200-mile trail from Reno to Gerlach is being proposed to highlight Washoe County’s cultural, historic, and artistic elements. With $75,000 in grant funds from the the National Endowment for the Arts, Washoe County, working with Burning Man, envisions the trail to pass through Reno-Sparks, small towns, and tribal lands into Gerlach.

“The goal of the project is to draw out and engage both urban and rural residents in the culture and beauty of the place we call home,” said Gabrielle Enfield, Washoe County grants administrator. “We believe this project will connect the community to the economic, arts, and cultural features, organizations and individuals throughout our vast and varied landscape.”

The trail will be developed with community input through workshops, the identification of sites, and public art ideas.
